The last one was at Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri. Click here to see what we were up to then! That was a kid free zone! :)
This year I was the only member of my immediate family to go. But we took the whole crew.
Since we lived in Hotlanta for a summer in 2006, and it saved us $1000 in airline tickets, we flew from Salt Lake to Atlanta and stayed with a friend, Andrew and Wendy and their kids.
Then we took the day to drive the 8 hours north to Smith Mountain Lake. As with any family road trip it turned into a 10 hour road trip + 2 hour long meal breaks.
Our first stop was in Ashville, NC.
Then we ate some yummy BBQ outside of Raleigh before we completed the last leg of our trip to Virginia.
We rented a VRBO that was awesome!!! When we come back we're definitely staying here again!!!
We had so much fun catching up, making new friends, playing in the water, and relaxing.
When the week was done we were sad to go.
But for Father's Day I got us tickets to see Lynard Skynard at the outdoor amphitheater in Charlotte. So we spent the day there. We got to go to the White Water National Training Center Park, hang out at the pool and visit the local airport viewing area!
Then we drove the last few hours back to Atlanta and spent the night with our friends again.
Before flying home we visited the Kennesaw National Battlefield and hiked to the top of the Kennesaw Mountain before we visited our old apt and flew home.
We were pretty wiped out so we spent that night with Ty's parents and enjoyed the 4th of July with friends and family.
What do you get when you take an expensive, fun, busy, trip to visit friends and family you haven't seen in years/met in your whole life = Priceless
