Spring Break 2018

We had to start Spring break a few days early so we packed our things and headed south, which is always the way to find warmth in March!

In the middle of Nevada with a stiff cross wind.

About an hour before we got there, this little guy got sungry (aka sad and hungry). Of course we brought his jar of PB, because that always works, but no serving utensil...

...so we improvised! :) It did the trick!

I think this is one of my new favorite photos!

We checked into our place and walked up the road to get yummy calzones at Bellas! So good!

The next day was rainy so we stayed at the house and relaxed. Except for the 3 different trips to Walmart to exchange the birthday gift, exchange the broken birthday gift and pick out something else entirely! Ugghh...Walmart...why oh why?

The next day we planned our longest ride of the week. It was really fun!
We spent the whole day exploring and riding fun little trails!

About 30 mins from home Rhett leaned over and grabbed my hand and said, "I hold your hand."
It wasn't long before he was out cold!
Fast asleep, holding my hand the rest of the way back to the house. What a sweet little boy!

Saturday we found my favorite area of the trip. The platues northwest of town. There were all kind of little woopties, jumps, corners, and tricky downhills.

Kate's sand angel and spring break art she made while waiting for the others.

That afternoon, one of my best friends from St George came to say hi!
These 2 little girls were really more like twins. As you can see the same clothes, no shoes and same hair!
It was fun for Josie to be a big sister to an even littler sister!

We went to the playground, got ice cream, chatted and soaked in the hot tub while the boys took the ATVs back out on the trails.
(we would have gone too, but there weren't enough machines).

That evening we all enjoyed dinner together, but it was over all too soon!

The next morning while it was snowing in Filer, Idaho we enjoyed a nice breakfast on the back patio!

And we walked to the park that afternoon to play.

Monday morning we decided to take the suggestion of a local and try out a new trail.

Although it was scenic, it was my least favorite trail I've ever been on in my whole life! Ugghh! (and not even d/t the machine malfunction).

As you'll be able to see from the next few pictures there were soooooo many big rocks to bump about half the day. Also it was freezing at the top and we had to get out every extra layer of clothing we had to just stay warm.

Ty cautiously picked up a stranded meth-head that had abandoned his van on this crazy steep trail and was walking the 18 miles out of the canyon. He's got a heart of gold that one!

And then I was having a hard time steering my Wildcat, but thought it may have just been the depp sand on that section of the trail. But it kept getting worse and worse. I had Ty look at it, but he didn't really see much. I said a prayer we would be able to be safe and get back into town and about 30 seconds later, I just knew I had to stop entirely. This is what I found...

"Oh, you know Kevin...ok, um, of course...well you know how, like, his right arm usually bends like that....ok...it's not bending like that right now." (In case you're not familiar, click here.)

See that electrical wire in the middle where the red hinge is? Yeah...the black section of the frame had sheared off nearly entirely.

McKay and Karen took the other kids back as their machine only has plastic on the rear end. Josie and I stayed and we learned how to pick prickly pears to make into jelly. It was a nice distraction.

Luckily we had service and once Ty dropped off the hitch-hiker a LONG way from the truck and trailer, he was able to drive his 4 wheeler back up and tow me out with my winch through his rear rack.
It's hard to tell but the whole front end of the wildcat is off the ground.

It took us another hour and a half to creep along the last 15 miles of the trail.

This was a really neat hand-tie cattle fence and turned out to be an awesome picture!

Ty's dream came true (he loves technical riding) and he and his machine got to pop a lot of wheelies!

But we got to see a beautiful sunset and ended the long day with delicious food!

Of course the next day we got to relax a bit more before we headed back home.
Happy Spring Break 2018!
