All Aboard...The Dinosaur Train!!!

***WARNING***Tons of Pictures, Extra Long Post, but do Enjoy!

So Josie's (and I'll admit my) favorite cartoon is Dinosaur Train. So we decided to go on a train ride for her 3rd birthday party. Josie's birthday falls right around Mother's Day so we thought it would be a perfect time to go visit Ty's family and ride the Heber Valley Railroad up Provo Canyon.

But before we get to that we had a stowaway in Josie's car seat just a few minutes before we left. We took her out the cargo area at least 5 times before this!

On the way down to Utah Ty decided to take a detour through the Golden Spike National Monument and ATK, the place where NASA's Rocket ship motors are made.

When we pulled onto the Golden Spike road we saw tons of traffic and were confused by all of it. There were hundreds of people there!! Come to find out it was the 144th anniversary of the Golden Spike on May 10th! Of all the times we have driven by of course today we stop. :) But the admission was free so that's a bonus.

Josie loved being on the train...I think she had forgotten we were going to actually ride on the next day, because she was super excited when we reminded her.

Although we didn't plan this either (go figure) Josie was wearing her pink overalls and we found a train conductor hat in the gift shop that was the exact print. She loved it. Like usual Kate's just chillin'!

After we were done with the rockets and trains and we headed out to see the Spiral Jetty in the Great Salt Lake. I'm not sure that I've ever been there before...maybe once when I was quite young. But it was really neat. All of this was salt caked onto the sand!

So with no further ado, onto the birthday party and train ride!

I'm sure I put way too much work into this, but it was a lot of fun and I thought it turned out great!
Here are the "ticket" invites I made...

The teal and orange polka dots I baked into the cake! Kind a fun!

Thanks Heber Valley Railroad Staff!
You made Josie's birthday special and were great to work with!

Josie was so excited to get a bike of her very own!

That evening Ty and I tried to goon a 4 wheeling date, but just ended up going on a really fun hike with a fancy take out picnic dinner. It reminded me of the night Ty proposed!

What a wonderful weekend! Ty got me a new book for Mother's Day that I was so excited about! "Cooked", by Michael Pollan. The funny thing was he heard a bit on NPR about it and planned to get it for me. He started telling me about this new book I would love and I said, Is it "Cooked"? Haha. Obviously we know each other too well. I read a big chunk of it outloud on the way home and we both think it's GREAT so far.

Thanks to everyone who came on the train and spent the weekend with us.
