It's a Domestic Miracle

Today I had the day off and decided to try again for the trillionth time to try to make bread. I swear I can make any other kind of baked good, except bread. It is truly a species of it's own!

For mutual the other night of of the ladies in our ward taught the girls how to make bread.
We were talking afterward, and she told me that actually this is the only recipe that she knows how to make, but it HAS NEVER FAILED!! I've heard that before and wasn't really sure, but I came home with a new determination to make homemade whole wheat bread.

Well I followed the recipe EXACTLY, and here's what I got!

I have never seen bread rise so high in my kitchen! Not kidding. I can't even get Rhodes rolls to rise!

This is truly a domestic miracle! And super yummy too! Mmmm...

I spent the rest of the day finishing up a project I had been working on.

For our ward's monthly enrichment groups, they started up a beginning sewing class. The first night we were going to make aprons. I'm actually a pretty good seamstress, but decided to join in anyways. I went to the fabric store and found this awesome fabric and after a little more thought decided it was too cute to make into an apron, plus I already have FOUR aprons.

So I found this cute pattern and started this jumper.

Well...I worked on it the first night of the group, but didn't get nearly finished and have been working on it off and on for the last month or two. It took a lot longer than I thought and was a little harder than I had planned on, but today I finished it and I think it looks great.

The picture doesn't really do it justice, but the neck it gathered in the front and the back around the collar and the collar is interfaced, lined and top-stiched. I also had to lengthen the hem by four inches to make it long enough.

The collar took me the longest, as I cut out two of the pieces wrong, without flipping over the pattern, like it showed in the picture. I wasn't quite sure what I'd done wrong and looked at it and unpicked and re-sewed it a couple times. I even had Ty take a look at it, and he had no idea. (I'm not sure he would know anyways, but still!)

Well anyways I finished it today and I'm super excited about how it turned out!
