Quasi Backpacking Trip

We have a backpacking trip planned over the 4th of July this year and we weren't too sure how it would go.  We tried to go last year, but the fires were so bad we decided to take a raincheck. Since Josie was born we have only been on one backpacking trip (check it out here), which is really hard for us to think about. It was a lot of fun, but we want to be able to take the whole family on backpacking trips for the next several years. Since we had been really busy with working on the yard for the last few days I suggested a break. We discovered a nice little gem called Little City of Rocks in Gooding a few year ago. So we packed up the girls and the dogs and headed out. Based on a very brief trip into the snow a few months back, Ty and I weren't expecting a whole lot. We packed a lunch and kept our eyes open for playgrounds on the way that we could come back to...

But we were very suprised! After lunch Josie took off up the hill after the dogs before we were even ready. We ended up spending about 3 hours hiking and exploring around! It was great! We could tell Josie was getting tired, but it was a wonderful trip. I drove home and we took a fun detour down Turkey Lake Road to Lincoln Co Line via the middle of nowhere!

I think we're set for a trip in a couple of months to Chamberlain Basin! Of course we'll see how the sleeping part of the trip goes as well...
